This review is written by a totaly blind viewer. Yes, I used those words together in a sentence. So don't expect anything too terribly visual here. That also means I won't be discussing picture quality and all that technical stuff either. Bores me to tears anyway. Anyway, on with the contents of this set.

My mega boxset from Timelife arrived a day or so before I happened upon this preorder and am writing this review as of 8-14-2012, and it contains this exact same title, naturally. So here's what you'll be getting should you purchase this half season set from run of the mill DVD joints or amazon.com this November. You'll get the remaining 30 episodes that comprise the second half of season 1.

My review
Before i'm attacked, I already own this set. How? well i bought the time life exclusive 40 disc dvd power rangers boxsets. so my season 1 vol 2 is the exact same volume being released in november.
I'm not here to talk about the show. I'm sure if your here, its because your fully aware of this amazing series. This volume concludes season 1, ending on 60 epiosdes. This volume has the remaining 3 dvds, each dvd contains 10 episodes. this set comes with closed captioning for those who have regular dvd players, NOT bluray players that play dvds, those will not display the captioning. No, there is no loss in picture quality. since this season had episodes that lasted no more than 19min, a few at 18min. thats why they are able to put so many episodes without losing video quality, but because of that, they had no space to put in the episode teaser and preview for the next ep onto these dvds. its a sad thing, but who knows, if enough people flood shout factory with emails to add in all...

Beetlejuice: Season One

The Ghost with the Most is back!
Ironically, (as with most cartoon adaptations I've witnessed) I watched the show before the actual movie, and loved the animated adaptation. One reason is unlike Past adaptions of film and TV Shows, Tim Burton, the creator oversaw the show's production and kept it as funny as the film, but acceptable for Saturday Morning: where Lydia Deetz and her family live in the house, and she somehow discovered Beetlejuice, of course, the former residents from the movie aren't in the show.

The premise deals with how Lydia deals with her ghostly friend in and out of the Netherworld, usually contending with supernatural products or Beetlejuice's wild schemes. Before it was done in Chowder and Flapjack, Beetlejuice utilized different medias rather well. Basically using computer animation whenever the television was used in the series, sure it wasn't anything like in Futurama (remember this was the 80s), but it helped make the show interesting at times.

Takes me back-LOVE IT!!!
I'm 31 and I have to say I bought this DVD for myself. I used to watch this when I was a kid. I LOVED this show. Still do and I'm SOOOO happy they finally put it out on DVD. Waiting for season 2 now. :o)

Return to your immature childhood!
I had recently purchased the Beetlejuice movie on dvd (from Amazon of course lol) after my kids caught part of it on cable and loved it. The dvd had a bonus feature with 2 episodes from the cartoon, i had completely forgotten they had a cartoon! It was one of my favorites as a kid, and my boys instantly loved it and began asking where they could watch more. So, i turned to my trusty friend (Amazon again) and was surprised to find both season 1 and 2 were available. My boys are happy....I'm happy....if you were a fan of the cartoon don't hesitate BUY!

Beetlejuice: The Complete Series

Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice! I Love This DVD Set!
This set does not have any extras. What it does have is the complete series of a well written and funny cartoon! I watched this on Saturday mornings, and I am now watching through them all with my children! Well, my ten year old fell in love and didn't want to stop! I thought the video looked great on my hi definition TV!

Though I know I should be wary,
Still I venture someplace scary;
Ghostly hauntings I turn loose....

Worth It If You Grew Up Watching The Show
As is already established, this does run on the expensive side for a cartoon that's over 20 years old. I bought it anyway, because I used to watch it all the time, and did not think this would be a very hot seller so who knows how long it will be available for.

Without any extras, and the range of quality for the digital transfers of the episodes go from "poor" to "meh." Anybody expecting digital restorations will be disappointed, some of the episodes look like they were transferred straight from an old VHS tape. If this wasn't an official product, I would think it was a bootleg.

Otherwise though, you do get a lot of cartoons to watch, and if you were into BJ then you'll like it anyway. I'm not sure how much kids today would care for it today... Watching it today its definitely a little cheesier than I remember, and you realize how much the music repeats...but it is what it is.

For $80, I think they could have done better, the quality would have...

Thank you Shout Factory! you guys have come through again with releasing one of my favorite cartoons shows from my childhood, Beetlejuice. I love this show and I'm glad that its a complete series release which means no waiting for season/volumes releases or stalled releases because of poor sales. I wish that older shows would just be released in complete series sets and then release complete seasons that way all the episodes can be released.
