Red Widow: The Complete First Season

Brilliant so far!
Let me preface this by saying it seems lots of critics trash this show based solely on the fact that it's written by Melissa Rosenberg, who also happened to pen the screenplays for the Twilight franchise. Apparently that is grounds for the show's premise to be instantly labeled as as "contrived" and "misguided." Perhaps the show is too female-centric to score many points with the male majority critics, but I find the concept appealing and very watchable.

Marta Walraven (nee Petrov)'s life is turned upside down by her husband's violent death, the consequences of his shady business partnership with her brother, Irwin, and their longtime friend, Mike. She inherits the fallout in the form of a large (and temporarily missing) shipment of stolen cocaine and a Romanian mob boss named Schiller seeking compensation for his stolen shipment in the form of her unwilling employment as his import/export handler for smuggled drugs and guns. Thus she is dragged back...

Great entertainment!
Happy to see broadcast TV coming out with solid competition to those horrific reality shows. Red Widow is a great ride, well-acted with a nice twist -- Russian mob instead of the same old Mafia tale! And the chemistry between Marta and Schiller is palpable!! So I'm sure ABC will cancel (programming decisions make zero sense these days) and we'll just have this first season to view over and over again.

Red Widow Season 1
Great show! Can't say enough good things about it. Never having watched it before, I caught the finale on TV and had to go back to watch the series in its entirety, even after I knew how it ended. It's a nice balance of suspense, romance, drama, and action without being predictable. The script is well written and doesn't insult the intelligence. The story revolves around a woman who is drawn into the criminal world through the actions of her family as she struggles to find a way to cut her ties to it while keeping her family safe. I enjoyed all the subplots and the characters were well developed. If you like Revenge, you will like this show, which in my opinion completely surpasses that soap opera melodrama. Unfortunately, I understand ABC canceled the series, but even so, the show wraps up nicely by the 8th episode.
